When Elden Ring was released just a few weeks ago, it was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics. However, despite the fact that the game’s embargo was lifted on February 23rd, it received an overall rating of 97 on Metacritic for the PlayStation 5, compared to 95 for the Xbox 360 and 95 for the PC. However, despite the fact that those are extremely impressive numbers, the user score for the PC version has recently taken a turn for the worse. As of the time of this writing, Elden Ring runes have received some 0 points, resulting in an overall rating of 6.1 for the participant. A number of fans have expressed dissatisfaction with the game’s performance issues, lack of ultrawide support, and various other issues.
Although the game does not have UltraWide support (in fact, it appears to have been purposefully disabled, as multiple people have reported that the feature works only to have it quickly replaced by black bars), the field of view is messed up, there is no porting over of Playstation button icons, and the game has poor performance, with a frame rate cap of 60 frames per second. It is important to remember that reviews have always been subjective, that no reviewer can go into a game with complete objectivity, and that this is something that should not be overlooked. It is difficult to give a game a zero rating solely on the basis of the absence of certain features, especially when Elden Ring possesses so many positive characteristics that have struck a chord with players, as I have done in this review.
Metacritic is intended to be a resource for people who are interested in video games to go to and read a variety of opinions before making a purchase decision. We’ve seen far too many instances of review bombing being used as a weapon to further an agenda, even though gamers are free to express their dissatisfaction on the site. An aggravating situation that is unfair to both the developers who invest a significant amount of time and effort into the games we play and Metacritic users who are looking for an honest range of opinions on the games they play. Elden Ring is now available for download on a variety of platforms, including the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, among other things. This page contains a comprehensive archive of all of our previous coverage of the game.
Please understand that we are huge fans of Elden Ring Runes PS before you go insane and start typing out a rage-filled response. The game was described as not only better than any other Dark Souls game, but also as one of the best games of all time by Faris Delalic, one of our very own reviewers, in a moving piece written about the game. Upon further investigation, we discovered that the game had received hundreds upon hundreds of negative reviews from players, which led us to believe that the game had been hacked. Our frustration manifested itself in the form of us pulling our hair out in frustration. What could possibly be the source of such widespread dissatisfaction with this masterpiece on the part of so many gamers?
According to user score averages, the PC version of Elden Ring appears to have been poorly translated, and the game’s fans appear to be having a disproportionately large impact on the game’s overall performance. The fact that a game as highly anticipated as this has fallen short of expectations for its PC audience is still a source of embarrassment. While Ghost of Tsushima did not receive a PC port upon its initial release, Elden Ring did receive a PC port shortly after it was made available for purchase.
In the case of ER gold on the PC, there are no justifications for a game that will be released in 2022 to be so severely hampered as From Software has done with the game. I’m sorry, but the PC port is a complete and utter failure. In this case, it was simply sloppy development with the goal of making as much money as possible at the expense of customers who paid $60 for a competent product and were not disappointed.10/10 for being completely unforgivable.
We’ll summarize our recommendation for those who have just discovered this page: if you want the best experience possible, we recommend that you purchase Elden Ring for the console. If you use this as an excuse to buy a new console, you will be able to play some of the recent exclusives that have been released.
