How To Make a YouTube End Screen

How To Make a YouTube End Screen

Many people think that YouTube is only a source of entertainment. While that is certainly true, it can also be a means of livelihood for many people. Similarly, we have advertising agencies and marketing companies that basically need their YouTube videos to do well. That is what they are here for, after all. YouTube is a platform that many people use as a search engine too. People want to learn new things or learn how to fix an existing thing like a leaky faucet or a punctured tire. Moreover, YouTube is also a very successful Youtube marketing agent. How do you ask? Well, it has been reported that as of 2021, about 70% of people are influenced to buy what they see advertised on YouTube. Therefore, marketers and advertisers must know how to capitalize on this basis. On the other hand, a lot of content creators that find themselves looking to make a livelihood from YouTube also need their subscribers and viewers to engage more with their channel. To make things interesting and to keep things relevant, it can be seen that end screens are a very important tool for the same. In this particular post, we will explain what an end screen is, and how to create an end screen for the same.

The first question we will answer for the people out there would be a very basic one – what are screens? End screens have another name – video outros. Maybe that name will strike a chord with you. If not, do not worry. End screens or video outros are basically tools that content creators and YouTubers can use to “call to action.” This basically means that content creators and YouTubers give their viewers and subscribers instructions as to what steps to take next to be engaged with their channel. So the end screen or the video outro can have several types of call to action, such as feature links, playlists, approved call to action, and maybe even link to other channels. These elements are shown at the end of the video, for a couple of seconds. You need to keep in mind that the end screen or video outro we are talking about here is drastically different from the ones YouTube automatically generates.

In this section, we will be going over how you can make your personalized end screen or video outro on YouTube.

  1. First of all, you will need to sign in to your YouTube account.
  2. Then, in the top right corner, you will see the account icon for YouTube Studio.
  3. From the top left-hand corner, you will select “content”
  4. Now the path will converge. If you want to add an end screen to an existing video, you will need to select a video, click and pencil icon and SKIP the next step.
  5. If you need to add an end screen to a new video, you will need to click the create button, on the top left to upload a new video file.
  6. Select the video elements tab, no matter if you have to add an end screen to a new video or an existing video
  7. You’ll then see an option to import your own end screen or create your own end screen.
  8. Click on “create element” after you are done importing the end screen for a new video or an existing video.
  9. Then you can refine the rest of the details, like the dimensions of the end screen, along with how long the end screen will be on display.
  10. You can also preview your end screen by clicking on preview, in the top left corner or you can just save things by clicking on “Save” to finalize your end screen.

In this section, we will be going over the standard YouTube end screen or outro dimensions. You can either create an end screen on YouTube’s creator studio or you can upload your own. In case you are uploading your own end screen, you will need to follow a specific dimension that has been given. Standard sizing is 1280px by 720px, and standard HD aspect ratio is 1920px by 1080px. While you can also create a YouTube end screen from scratch, for rookies or newbies, it will be much easier for them to create an end screen with the help of a template from the following websites, such as:

  1. Can – you can include stickers and animations in Canva
  2. Adobe Spark – Adobe Spark walks you through the process of having to create an end screen so things are easy for you.
  3. Snappa – these templates have been designed professionally. But you will need to create an account to use these templates.

If an audience member or subscriber has already watched any given YouTube video till it has been finished, you have captured their attention. To increase engagement, however, you will need to up your game by introducing end screens to your videos.
